About the CFE exam

The CFE is the world's most widely held fraud-examination credential, administered by the ACFE. It validates expertise across fraud schemes, investigation methodology, the legal framework, and fraud prevention and deterrence.

The exam moved to a three-section format in June 2026, consolidating the historical four domains. It's built for professionals who investigate fraud, build anti-fraud controls, or advise on fraud risk.
